Here’s another fun family I got to photography last fall. My daughter is friends with the little girl at school and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the whole family. They welcomed their second daughter not long after our shoot, but I love capturing maternity photos with the family. The local park (Almaden Winery) worked great, it’s becoming a great spot for the casual shoot. They were all so sweet, fun and photogenic! Thanks Duran Family!

I look forward to taking Adam’s pictures every year. He is such a darling little boy and is so good for the camera. He smiles and laughs easily and the love that he has for his mom is so apparent it’s easy to capture. We took these at Pinchetti Ranch. I love the rustic barn and we practically had a science adventure. We saw the resident peacock, a deer, a banana slug and a little roly poly he befriended and took home in his pocket.

Here’s another job I did this past summer…wish I could have some of that sunshine back! These are some dear friends of ours and I was honored to take some pictures of their family. Our husbands were friends before they were born and I have known the mom since my college days, where we talked over many beers in various pubs. Our families get together for birthdays, “festivus” and lots of celebrations in between. I always get more nervous when shooting for good friends or family…I really don’t want to screw up or look like a fool! But this family was so fun to photograph and so photogenic, it made it easy peasy. And the beers afterwards were great too! Cheers to good friends!

Miles

Welcome baby Miles! This is another Smith Family and they added a beautiful baby boy, Miles, to their family in July. Big sister Makena was so good during our shoot and we got some of my favorite images of the kids together. Mom and Dad weren’t interested in being in the photos, but maybe I can talk them into it the next time around. I just love his squishy face and those tiny feet. My friends think I’m a little weird, but I love the newborn stage. I love holding little ones and was honored to hold this one for a bit after our shoot.

I usually only get to shoot smaller, immediate families. It was fun to shoot a big extended family, especially one that had so many laughs during the shoot! We shot this at Pinchetti Ranch. It turned out to be a wonderful spot for photos. I love the old fences, distressed barns, and rolling hills of grass. Sometimes you see the resident peacock and even deer running through the fields. It definitely stays on my list of great locations to shoot family photos.

The last time I shot pictures of this family was at Molly’s wedding, several years ago. I love to see how it has grown and how much the kids look like their parents. Thanks for asking me to take pictures! Can’t wait to meet the new little ones arriving in 2012, congrats!

Smith Family

This is also a Smith Family. Our kids played together for a long time in a playgroup, until they started school and now everyone is to busy to get together every week. But I love seeing this family at the birthday parties we all attend. Hopefully we can carve out more time to see each others families in 2012!

“M” Family

I can’t believe it’s already December. Time does have a way of speeding by when you are busy. I still have a bunch of jobs to share that I shot this summer and fall. It feels a little silly to post something I shot way back in May, but I don’t want any of my families to feel left out! Plus, it has forced me to look at some old images to sell for stock and get new images together to update my website in the new year.

This is the Smith Family. Fun fact, their names all start with the letter M. They added a new “M” in the spring and called me to take some family pics. The kids were great and even though the littlest “M” didn’t want to be put down, I was glad to capture some bonding moments between the family.

I love this little girls’ big smiles! I can’t help but to smile myself. Her eyes are stunning too. We had a lot of fun roaming around the Rosicrucian museum looking for some good spots to shoot in after getting kicked out of the Rose Garden. (see Grace’s post) It turned out to be a great spot and I’ve used it a couple times since. I love being able to photograph kids year after year and see how they have grown and changed.

European Trip – Part 3

Here are the last of our trip photos from Munich. In full disclosure, I did not take these photos. By this point in our trip, I was tired of lugging equipment around, we were with a much bigger group of people and I needed a free hand to drink beer!

Oktoberfest was epic. Seriously, it was one of the funnest parties ever!

European Trip – Part 2

The next leg of our trip took us to Reggio Emilia, but not before stopping for a great lunch in Bergamo. We stumbled upon this great Northern Italian town by chance, headed up to the old walled city and walked around for a couple of hours. It was that perfect “didn’t plan it” afternoon. After filling up on polenta and wine, we continued on our route to Reggio Emilia, a charming small(ish) Italian town. It is the birthplace of the Italian flag, but it also where our friend’s great-grandfather was born. And just by chance, we walked right by the sewing store his familia has owned for generations. It was a super cool feeling to witness family meeting for the first time and trying to figure out how they are all related. We even got to have an authentic Italian Family dinner with them all on our last night in Reggio Emilia, where we learned that many stereotypes of Italian families are true and many foods we call Italian, like spumoni, are not really from Italy.

We also did small day trips to Parma, Modena and Maranello, the home of Ferrari factory and museum. My only complaint of the trip is that we didn’t research more places to do vinegar, wine or cheese tastings. The area is famous for creating parmigiana reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar and I mistakenly thought there would be more tours and advertising of the regions claim to fame. It’s a small complaint though. Hope you enjoy this round of pictures!
